The formation of community intervention competence in the Sociocultural Management for Development career

Abstract

The objective of this article is to determine the formation of community intervention competence in the Sociocultural Management for Development degree, at the University of Matanzas. A mixed approach was used, with a predominance of qualitative methods that are complemented by quantitative methods. From the theoretical and empirical level, the following were used: the review of documents, interviews with the directors of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities and questionnaires with the students of the aforementioned career; for descriptive analysis in the processing of results, statistical methods. The dimensions that made up the aforementioned competence are cognitive, affective and behavioral, which involved the integration of knowledge, skills, attitudes and values in the students, which facilitates diagnosing, planning, executing and evaluating community intervention, in solving problems for social transformation into concrete practice. The formation of this professional competence takes place from the beginning of the degree until its consolidation over the course of subsequent academic years. It is considered that this process requires prioritized attention, in order to achieve a professional with trained community intervention competence, which allows the social transformation of community spaces.
