Abstract

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has made great advances but, along with its benefits, it presents multiple challenges. One of the areas where changes have been introduced is education, which is why future graduates need to be trained to apply it ethically and responsibly. The objective of this work was to explore the self-perception of engineering students about different aspects of the use and application of AI in the training process. A questionnaire with a Likert-type scale was applied, through which students expressed self-perception about the categories that grouped the different items. The SWOT matrix was applied to complement the criteria provided. The results indicate that the participants do not perceive themselves as having the necessary knowledge about AI and its use is still incipient; positive opinion towards it prevails but also doubt and fear about its consequences.
